Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2025 | Last Updated: January 1, 2025
SAW Ops ("SAW Ops," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of all individuals whose data interacts with our worker safety platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information through our website (sawops.com), operations portal (portal.sawops.com), and connected device network.
1. The SAW Ops Data Firewall
SAW Ops is built on a foundational privacy principle: our system exists to improve safety and operational efficiency — not to enable individual worker surveillance. We operate a Data Firewall structure in which:
- Raw individual location histories are processed by SAW Ops and are never transmitted to or accessible by client employer networks.
- All safety and operations reports delivered to clients are grouped and anonymized, reflecting yard-wide or site-wide trends rather than individual movement records.
- SAW Ops is the sole custodian of device-level data and uses it exclusively for safety alert processing and aggregate analytics.
2. Information We Collect
Device Data: GPS coordinates, proximity event logs, alert triggers, and device status signals from worker-worn devices and site beacons. This data is processed in real time for safety alerts and retained for aggregate reporting.
Portal Account Data: Name, email address, job title, and organization name collected when users create accounts on portal.sawops.com.
Website Contact Data: Name, email, organization, and message content submitted through our website contact form.
Usage Data: Standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and page visit data collected automatically when visiting sawops.com.
3. How We Use Information
- Processing real-time proximity alerts to protect workers on active worksites
- Generating anonymized safety heatmaps and operational efficiency reports
- Managing portal accounts and providing platform access
- Responding to contact form inquiries and sales communications
- Improving the SAW Ops platform and device performance
- Complying with applicable legal obligations
4. Worker Data Protections
SAW Ops does not provide employers, supervisors, or any third party with individual worker location histories, movement timelines, or personally identifiable alert records. Worker data collected through our devices is used solely for:
- Real-time safety alert delivery to the worker and nearby equipment operators
- Anonymous aggregate analysis included in Safety & Operations Reports
- System performance diagnostics by SAW Ops technical staff
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share data with:
- Service Providers: Cloud hosting, database, and analytics providers operating under data processing agreements (AWS, MongoDB Atlas, SendGrid).
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of individuals.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality obligations.
6. Data Retention
Device proximity event data is retained for up to 24 months for safety analytics purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymized. Portal account data is retained for the duration of the customer relationship plus 12 months. Contact form data is retained for up to 24 months.
7. Security
SAW Ops uses industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and regular security audits. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we take reasonable precautions to protect the data entrusted to us.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information. To make a request, contact us at hello@sawops.com.
9. Cookies
Our website uses minimal cookies for session management and basic analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings; this will not affect your ability to contact us or access public site information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify active portal users of material changes via email or portal notification. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
